German Builder Vermot to Use M5's V10 Engine in Veritas Roadster
German specialty car builder Vermot has announced plans to build a limited run of hand-built Veritas RSIII roadsters that will use the M5/M6 V10 engine, albeit tuned for 600 horsepower, in combination with that drivetrain's 7-speed SMG transmission. There will also be a 480-horsepower V8 version, using a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated BMW V8 mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The carbon-Kevlar-bodied two-seater will use a tubular steel frame, keeping weight below 2400 pounds in V8 trim. Twenty-inch Brabham RS allow wheels will wear 285/30R20 tires in front and huge 335/25R20 rubber in back. Six-piston front and four-piston rear brakes come from TRW racing. Zero-to-62 mph times are quoted at 3.6 seconds for the V8, and just 3.2 seconds for the V10.
The Veritas RSIII continues the lineage of BMW-powered Veritas sports cars that started in 1948. The very first Veritas, based on the BMW 328, won the very first post-war road race in Germany, and went on to win 13 German championship titles with 29 first-place wins. In 1951 Veritas became Germany's first-ever Formula 1 car.
Production of the RSIII roadster will be limited to just 50 units. Pricing is available on request.
