This month's AUTObiography comes to us from a BMW enthusiast Gene B.
How long have you owned this car? 3 years
Is there anything unique about the history of this car? Third owner, imported in 1985 by Autobahn Society of Boulder Colorado.
What was your objective with this car? To keep it stock or reversible to stock for Concours shows.
What tuning style would you describe this car as? Euro Classic
Who helped you build this car? Many other 6 series owners and enthusiasts.
What makes your car special? The color green is found only on the gray market M6's known as the M635, and this is the only known example in "Achatgruen Mettalic" code number 177.
What is your favorite part/feature/function? The Euro bumpers, headlight wipers, water buffalo interior and the paint color.
Who or what inspired the direction of modifications on this car? After attending many BMW 6 Series meets across the country it's hard to compete with the best but pushes me to keep going.
What don't you like about this car? The paint is not perfect and the front spoiler can't automatically retract when approaching dips and bumps on the road.Never enough power also.
What would you change if you could? The speed laws for cars and drivers that can handle an advanced license.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project? It is an 8 with more work to be done.
What would you do to the car if money were no object? Remove the original engine, put it in storage and install a turbocharged one with a handling package to match the upgrade.
Who has been your biggest critic of this project? Me, wanting the most bang for the buck.
What do your family and friends say about this car? My other 6 series buddies love the color and the engine sound. My wife just thinks it looks like an old, non-descript car.
What is your favorite place to drive this car? The South Denver Metro area foothills and the California Central Coast wine country. For one of the car meets this car was in the Stratosphere Casino in Las Vegas. It had to enter at 5am. and when driveing between the aisles of slot machines, people continued to gamble without noticing the action behind them. This was a slow speed drive but was very memorable.
What is your ideal day with this car? Meeting up with either owners of the 6 series cars or people that appreciate cars in all models and then go out and drive them.
Who gets to drive this car? Me
If you had to name your car, what would you name it? Greeny
What was your previous project? A 1986 635csi that did not get finished before it was sold for the 740i.
What is your next project? Installing upgrade suspension and engine mods to my 1994 740i
